Gas Rag - Demo

New band from Chicago. What a good start for 2013. Really fast d-beat influenced hardcore punk with some (short but) cool guitar solos thrown in. To say it in their own words: "We like to get high and play fast punk and I think that it really shows in our sound". You get 6 songs in 4:40min. I can assure you, it sounds as dirty and fucked up as the cover looks. It will be out on tape soon on Hardware Records, I think. Keep your eyes open and buy a copy once it's out.

Growing Stronger - Toxic Fumes

"Out of the rain soaked gutters of the gloomy Northwest comes Seattle's own Growing Stronger. Their EP "Toxic Fumes" is a furious onslaught of angry straight edge hardcore, much in the vein of 97a and No For An Answer."

What went wrong here? Why is this band still so unknown/underrated? Only 100 listeners on Lastfm. I don't get it, the record even came out on React! Records and they feature members of Not Sorry and Get The Most. If you haven't checked them out yet, for what ever reason, now is the time to do it! Definitely one of the Top 10 Records of 2012! Make sure to watch the video below, it's a music video to one of their songs and contains their genesis, haha.

Sex Drive - VVovnds Split

With this new material Sex Drive picks up just where they left off with their first 7". You get 3 Songs of pure hardcore punk in the vein of early 80's bands like Negative Approach or Necros. I was a little skeptical about the last song at first, it sounds quite different than the other songs, it's slow and really sluggish. Not that that's necessarily a bad thing, not at all, but in this case I needed a few listens to get into it. After all I think it fits the package pretty good.
This download only contains the Sex Drive side of the split, since I don't have the digital version of the VVovnds side. (Update: Click here for VVovnds Side)
